Urban Butcher in Silver Spring is beginning its new happy hour on Wednesday. Available at the bar, patio, and communal table from Monday to Friday beginning at 5, the happy hour will feature $5 cocktails, $5 wines and beers, and cheap snacks like $4 empanadas.

Fat Pete’s BBQ will be replacing Pulpo on July 3 in Cleveland. The new restaurant has open brik walls, silver stools, hanging lights and a warehouse-like feel inside.

Watch the USA vs. Belgium game tomorrow while snacking on hot dogs and crepes. Roofer’s Union will be offering both during the 4pm matchup.

Rammy-Winner Ripple Announces Friday Night Flights

Ripple, which won big at the Rammys for its wine program, is rolling out a new program. Called “Friday Night Flights,” the restaurant plans on offering a different flight every week for $20, showcasing a different region each time. Free tastings will also be available from 5 to 7pm at the restaurant’s front window. Try it while it lasts — the event ends August 29.

Carlos Delgado Brings Ocopa to H Street on July 18

Peruvian food is coming to H Street NE in the form of Ocopa. The new eatery, headed by chef Carlos Delgado, will be opening on July 18 in partnership with Chicken Tortilla, which will close after service this Friday. Delgado was born in Callao, Peru and grew up on ceviche, which will feature heavily on the menu. This weekend Taan Noodles closed its doors for good, but already Justin Abad and John Manolatos of Cashion’s Eat Place have plans for the vacant space. They hope to open a new seafood restaurant in its stead: Pop’s Seabar. The menu, according to Abad, will be some cross between a raw bar and a Jersey mom and pop restaurant. Po Boy Jim at last opened this week on H Street after several years’ worth of waiting. The restaurant, a family business, opened Thursday of last week with hopes to do both lunch and dinner service daily, as well as a late night menu. 11am marks the beginning of lunch service; closing time is at 3am on weekends, slightly earlier during weeknights. The menu has cajun influences, offering po boys as well as pulled pork sandwiches, wings, grilled oysters and more.

Washington Post’s Food section is hosting its yearly Top Tomato recipe contest once more. Recipes need to be original content, imagined up by home cooks, and feature no more than 13 ingredients (including salt and pepper). Five recipes may be entered per person. Try to go creative with your tomato recipes — soups, sauces, sandwiches and salad recipes are received in excess each year. The deadline is midnight on July 30; winners will be featured in the August 20th tomato issue.

'Chups Fruit Ketchup Owners Hope to Compete with Heinz Someday

Matt and Kori Wallace are the couple behind ‘Chups, the fruit ketchup condiment company sweeping the DMV. With hopes of someday competing with Heinz, the Wallaces are off to a good start. They’ve spent a year testing out their recipes — all of which are vegan and gluten-free — and launched after a successful Kickstarter campaign raised them over $22,000. ‘Chups currently comes in five flavors: blueberry, mango, peach, plum, and cranberry. Taan Ramen Shop Closes in Adams Morgan

Adams Morgan lost one of its two ramen shops today as Taan Noodles shut its doors forever. A notice on the restaurant’s website thanks its customers for a great run, saying that the owners “will miss the wonderful community of Adams Morgan.” The shop was meant to close in January, but instead continued service under a different chef. According to Eater DC, the ramen shop will be replaced by a seafood restaurant, run by two Cashion’s Eat Place partners.
