The neighborhood city of Mount Rainier in Maryland will be getting a sit-down beer garden soon. Bird Kitchen & Cocktails will be a 50-seat restaurant with an additional 25-seat sidewalk cafe and a 25-seat beer garden in back. The owners hope to turn it into a quintessential neighborhood spot, even encouraging participation in a form of a survey on what beers to put on tap.

Shaw beer garden Dacha appears to be en route for a major showdown with the Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration (ABRA) for it’s summer beer garden. The charges brought indicated that the aforementioned garden was a “substantial change in operation without board’s approval.” Hearing is set for October 21.

The small neighborhood restaurant Costa Brava in Bloomingdale appears to now be closed. The eatery suffered a tragic loss this summer when one of its owner Doug Brown drowned in the Chesapeake Bay. The place had no menus posted anywhere and according to a PoPville reader had “no signs of life.” There are rumours that it will be replaced by a burger and cocktail bar.

A new Greek restaurant called Kouzina Authentic Greek Restaurant is poised to open in Georgetown soon. A liquor license placard on a building front on 3234 Prospect Street, NW shows a notice saying that a restaurant that will offer Greek dishes will be coming soon and that it will have a 50-seat capacity for a summer garden patio. No opening date available yet, however.

The former Heritage India restaurant will be replaced by a contemporary Peruvian restautant called Nazca Mohica. The Dupont Circle eatery will feature a cebiche bar, a tapas bar, and a pisco bar, and an interior kitchen as well. There’s a new mural and a revised menu with traditional bar food like chicken wings, nachos, and shrimp cocktail plus happy hour specials which include $3 drafts and PBR cans and half off rye whiskey, select spirits and wine from 4-7 p.m., Monday to Friday.

The soon to open Mexican restaurant Espita Mezcaleria seems to be making leaps with its construction progress based on the images sent by a PoPville reader showcasing the restaurant’s colorful poster drawings of rabbits. The sign also had the words “masa, mole, and mezcal” written in white print above three of the restaurant’s drawings. The restaurant is slated for a space on 9th and N Streets, NW in Shaw.
