This is one of the few neighborhood Cuban restaurants that wouldn't feel out of place in Miami. The atmosphere is family-friendly; the menu has classic dishes just like grandma made them. The tender lechon (roast pig) may alone be worth the trip, but there's a lot more to try.

"Ten years before the United States restored diplomatic relations with Cuba, this able ambassador debuted with strapping plates of chopped roast pork sweetened with onions and shredded beef swollen with red wine, the classic ropa vieja. "The rice here is textbook, each grain distinct and slicked with oil; so are the beans, delivered in an inky simmered soup that sings of garlic and oregano.
