This Chevy Chase sushi shop — which once had a sibling in Glover Park — is home to brothers and co-chefs Handry and Piter Tjan. The menu is available a la carte, but for a treat try the $90 omakase menu. It doesn't always boast as wide a selection of exotic fish as Sushi Taro's more expensive version in Dupont, but it's high quality and well worth it.

2.5 Stars (5/13/2015) — 2015 Spring Dining Guide
"Reserve a seat for the nine-course, $90 counter show at Sushiko in Chevy Chase, curated by brothers and co-chefs Handry and Piter Tjan and an offshoot of the original Sushiko in Glover Park, which closed in 2013. … While not as epic as [Sushi Taro's], the parade of plates comes with plenty of dramatic moments. Monkfish liver draped in mackerel and finished with truffles and caviar tastes like something Patrick O’Connell would dream up if the Inn at Little Washington were in Tokyo. … The pièce de résistance? Pink ocean trout tartare marbled with goat cheese, a combination made haunting when the chef inverts a bowl over the little tower and pipes in cherry wood smoke." See Full Review…»

"A vegan omakase tasting is one of many signs that Washington’s oldest sushi spot has evolved and is flourishing at its Chevy Chase location. (The Glover Park original, which opened 40 years ago, has shuttered.) You’ll still find immaculate sushi and sashimi—note the specials flown in from Japan—plus chef’s tastings at the sushi bar and excellent soups such as smoked-mussel miso broth. It’s worth exploring the expanded small-plates menu. …" See Full Review…»

"The Glover Park Sushi-Ko has closed (do not look for it to reopen under the same ownership), but the Chevy Chase branch is still very good."
