Kerry Britt's KBQ, once located in Bowie, has reopened in Lanham with the same commitment to barbeque done the right way. Britt specializes in ribs done in a style that's all his own. Five house-made sauces are available to slather them with, but the meat is best on its own.

"Kerry Britt’s ribs don’t take you to a particular place—they don’t summon Memphis or Kansas City or Birmingham. They have a taste all their own, a flavor developed methodically, in layers. "Absolutely the best barbecue around the beltway, the pork ribs are worth a trip from Virginia! Reopening Late Summer 2013."

Philip Ajaj and Pierre Stone's tiny Jamaican restaurant is basically a carryout. But what it lacks in size, it more than makes up for with flavor. The jerk chicken is the real deal, with a smoke and spice that'll remind you of that jerk stand in the islands.

"Five chairs. That’s it. Five chairs and no atmosphere to speak of. You have been forewarned. But here’s what you also need to know: No other place in the area makes jerk chicken the way owners Philip Ajaj and Pierre Stone do—with this tenderness and juiciness, this penetration of smoke, this lip-smacking tanginess, this complexity of spice. …" See Full Review…»
