There’s a new Mexican restaurant in town. Mission Mexican in Dupont has recently opened, according to PoPville. The restaurant and bar offers traditional Mexican cuisine from Executive Chef Rodrigo Albarran. The 6,500 square-foot restaurant has 2 bars, 3 dining rooms and a spacious outdoor patio. Mission will start its brunch service later in the spring which includes freshly made cocktails that will be available all night.

Mission Opens Tonight in Dupont, Tacos Arrive Tuesday

The Post reports that the bar at Mission Mexican restaurant officially opens tonight in Dupont, but the owners report that dinner service won’t begin until Tuesday. Mission may be one of the most anticipated place in the city for tacos, thanks to its chef, Rodrigo Albarran of R&R Taqueria¬†in Elkridge. R&R, an eight seat taqueria in a Shell gas station, earned two stars from Tom Sietsema and was featured on Guy Fieri’s “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.” Mission, which occupies the former One Lounge space, is owned by Reed Landry and Fritz Brogan, two of the guys behind Mason Inn and members-only Georgetown nightspot George.

R&R Taqueria Chef, Rodrigo Albarran, to Oversee Mission Mexican Restaurant

After a surge of fancy small-plate tapas restaurants trending the dining scene, a casual Mexican restaurant is much welcomed to the neighborhood. Mission, located in Dupont Circle, is set to replace One Lounge. Rodrigo Albarran, who owns R&R Taqueria, will be executive chef of Mission according to Washington City Paper. The restaurant will feature authentic Mexican cuisine, a lively bar scene in a two level space with exposed brick and a large outdoor patio.
