The cash-only, carryout only, El Charrito Caminante has the best tacos and pupusas in Virginia at dirt-cheap prices. We're also a fan of the sloppy-good tortas, which feature the same succulent meats on good bread with plenty of fixings.

This Middle Eastern restaurant with two locations has consistently juicy kebabs, good dips and salads, and surprisingly good pizza, making it one of our favorites for takeout. In particular, try the vegetarian sampler, which is a combination of several classic Mediterranean dishes, a generous grilled salmon Greek salad, or the Egyptian pizza, which has a unique fennel seed crust. At the Arlington location, you can order ahead on their website and it's always ready when promised.

Bonchon is regarded by most in the area as the top purveyor of the "other KFC" (Korean fried chicken). The twice-fried chicken comes in a choice of spicy or sweet sesame garlic sauce. The Arlington branch is more upscale than the other area franchises and has some excellent non-chicken items.

"… [O]wners Tom An and Paul Choi of the recently opened BonChon in Arlington (they run the Centreville location, too) decided to tweak their kitchen procedures during peak hours. Their goal is to have your fried chicken on the table within 15-20 minutes of your order, all the better to calm the savage Type-A beast. …" See Full Review…»

"… At Bonchon, you’ll encounter … a symphony of relentless crunching. That’s how ridiculously crispy the chain’s Korean twice-fried chicken is, even—it defies culinary logic—when doused in sticky-sweet garlic-soy glaze. The famed birds are the number-one reason to visit (or to call for carryout, though waits can stretch to an hour-plus), but some locations such as Arlington, Centreville, and Navy Yard serve well-made cock-tails and a short list of starters, too. …" See Full Review…»
