Chef Tarver King, who got rave reviews at the Ashby Inn, joined Beverly Morton Billand's farm restaurant in 2014. Joined by Sous Chef Nathan Shapiro, Chef King execute dishes that show off the farm's stellar produce, much of it grown on site. The setting, an all-glass dining room with a spectacular view, is as memorable as the food. Note: the restaurant is only open Thursday through Saturday for dinner (a la carte Thursday, $94 prix fixe Friday and Saturday), Saturday and Sunday for brunch (a la carte), and monthly for a "Sunday Dinner" ($65 prix fixe).

"Lucky Tarver King, cooking on a Blue Ridge foothill at a restaurant with the motto 'Our fields are the chef’s pantry.' No joke. The Restaurant at Patowmack Farm comes with 40 acres of land from which the chef, who sometimes writes his menu as he’s foraging in the woods, gets almost all of his produce. Diners gather in a spare glass conservatory (the better to see the great outdoors) and choose from three tasting menus: Found, Grown and Raised, each collection based on food that has been sourced one of three ways.
