Amsterdam Falafelshop429 L'Enfant Plaza SW
Washington, DC 20260
This local chain stays open late and sticks to the basics: delicious Israeli-style falafel with plenty of tasty toppings on the do-it-yourself bar and fries with several sauces. There are three locations in DC and one in Clarendon.

Mitsitam Café(Museum of the American Indian)
Independence Ave SW & 4th St SW
Washington, DC 20024
The cafe inside the National Museum of the American Indian serves Native American fare that's remarkably good, and far more interesting than the museum that houses it. Mitsitam is organized like a cafeteria, with five stations, each specializing in dishes or ingredients from a different region. Visit other museums, but eat here.
This outdated review notes that "tucked inside one of the curves of the Smithsonian's American Indian museum, the Mitsitam Cafe is a treasure." See Full Review…»
